SOBs Info Notes

This weeks scheduled ride is a special event. These are the three different scenarios; a mountain biking course, the Mora loop, and a ride from Eldorado through Seton Village.

For the mountain bike and Mora rides you can carpool leaving the Agora in Eldorado at 8:00 am. These rides meet up at Sapello (15 miles north of Las Vegas on NM 518). The off road course is half on  a paved surface and the rest on a nontechnical dirt/gravel county road. The Mora loop is one of our treasures.

The Eldorado/Seton Village ride leaves the Agora shopping center parking lot at 9:00 am. Judy Costlow is the ride leader and she is quite open to extending the distance from the posted 15 miles.

Seven SOBs were in Silver City last week which experienced unseasonable rain. The first day was 61 miles of clear skies and mild temperatures. However the other days plagued the riders with rain and hail. The night life and coffee shops made up for the lack of riding.

Herb Schon is looking for some riders that want to do centuries.

He writes, “The training and participation additionally offer opportunities to go beyond an occasional ride and build up strength and endurance which drop off as we age. Here are a few coming up soon. They can be accessed by searching the name.”

                    Tour de Acoma, NM..............9/24
                    Tour de Ruidoso, NM............9/24
                    Durango Fall Blaze.............. 10/1
                    Gila Monster Challenge, NM..10/1

“These are pretty much the end of season rides coming soon. .... It's disheartening to see so few (or none) SOBs doing most nearby centuries. Consider a spring training series with add-ons to stay in the mindset thereafter.”
