SOBs Info Notes - April 2011

Our first scheduled Thursday ride is a couple of days away on April 7th. The ride schedule and route slips are posted on the web site:santafesobs.com.  This year all route slips will be posted on the web site so you can print them out in advance.

I want to encourage you to start using the web site as in the future we will be using the blog section to communicate with club members.

All of the official details such as; renewed membership with the League Of American Bicyclists (LA, liability insurance, and the completion of ride leader training classes (Traffic Skills 101) are done. The SOBs are ready to rumble!!

Judy Costlow needs all the certified ride leaders to contact her (j.costlow@gmail.com) to set up leaders for our rides this season. Congradulation to Mark Warchol and George Raney for completion of the certification training in March. There will be another opportunity the weekend of May 7-8 to take Traffic Skills 101 which is required to be a certified ride leader.

Herb Schon (schonherb@comcast.net) is in charge of the jersey order and reports that there are orders for 5 Short Sleeve, 3 Bottoms and 2 Long Sleeve Units. The minimum is 25 units per category. There are 19 days remaining (April 25 ) until the deadline.
Here is the link to the Voler site for ordering,
but please also contact Herb if you want to buy.

Lynn Pickard who worked tirelessly on getting the 5 feet legislation through the legislature has turned her attention to the SOBs Silver City special event in September. This looks like it is going to be wonderful trip. More information to follow as the plans firm up.

The membership drive ends on April 30th. Since the planning meeting in February we have 37 signed up. You can mail your $10.00 dues to: 2105 Paseo Ponderosa, Santa Fe, NM 87501 or pay at the sign-in table on the Thursday rides. This year I made up the membership cards in advance so you can have them right away. If you present the card at our sponsors: Rob & Charlie's and Bike n Sport both will give a 15% discount on merchandise. I bought a cycling computer and almost saved the cost of my membership. Java Joes will give 10% and they have a punch card that will save you another 10%.

I am looking forward to another year of cycling with a great group of people. See you on Thursday.
